 Pussy Willow Update

This morning on my way out the door, I noticed a change in the furry little catkins. They are plumper and more of the buds are emerging with fur caps.  It really make me think of spring even though it is only the end of January.  In the south this might mark the beginning spring.  I am not sure but I will just enjoy their buds.  I always remember the bush we had at our home in Michigan.  There was something that always drew me to them, their softness and the fact that they seemed to be the first harbingers of spring in the midwest.

Small joys can be coming across an old photo of an old friend that passed away suddenly. She was an amazing woman and someone who saved my life when I needed a friend the most.  After my divorce I badly needed respite of some kind and Susan offered it to me and my two children. She was a generous individual and off we went to Spain for a month, to get away and think and try to make a plan to rebuild my life as a single parent of two adopted kids. Savor each moment.   She will be missed.

Dogs provide endless hours of enjoyment.  After working on my writing I came in to get a much deserved bit of lunch only to find that Liam must have had a rough day on the job.  I did not pose this picture, it is a sign of the times that a dog is resting beside a mask.  Maybe this is the next step in Covid 19 protection.  It made me chuckle and he was no worse for the wear.
