Small Joy. January 27, 2021

Well, it was a rainy day in Georgia so to speak.  I could not go for my walk in the beginning of the day as it was raining and downright nasty out. As the day went on the sun came out and what a beauty of a day it was shaping up to be.  So contrary to my normal pattern, I decided to go out and get my walk in.  I typically do not walk in the afternoon or evening as I just don't seem, to have the energy for it.  But today, I said to myself, you can do it today will be different.  Well, about half way into my walk the sky began to cloud and the sky looked ominous.  How did that happen in such a short time?? I asked myself??  The next thing I knew it began to sprinkle giving me false hope that I would in fact make it home before the sky really opened up and I would be drenched.

Looking at the picture to the left, you see I did not make it.  Instead of a boo hoo moment, I broke into a laugh.  It was really not as bad as one would think, it was kind of pleasant... just a light rain to start then of course a harder more noticeable rain and before I knew it I was soaked.  The big take away for me was there really is joy in these little upsets and in the scheme of things really no big deal.  I would love to have the job of a weatherman, where else can you work and get paid for being wrong.  Nowhere in the forecast did it say it would rain in the afternoon.

Small Joy. February 27, 2021

Small joys can be coming across an old photo of an old friend that passed away suddenly. She was an amazing woman and someone who saved my life when I needed a friend the most.  After my divorce I badly needed respite of some kind and Susan offered it to me and my two children. She was a generous individual and off we went to Spain for a month, to get away and think and try to make a plan to rebuild my life as a single parent of two adopted kids. Savor each moment.   She will be missed.

Dogs provide endless hours of enjoyment.  After working on my writing I came in to get a much deserved bit of lunch only to find that Liam must have had a rough day on the job.  I did not pose this picture, it is a sign of the times that a dog is resting beside a mask.  Maybe this is the next step in Covid 19 protection.  It made me chuckle and he was no worse for the wear.
