Small Joy. January 30, 2021

A record, two days in a row! Such an amazing bird. Here he is preening himself in the lake. It is a grey overcast day with temps hovering around the high 30's. We are not likely to see snow, but rain is in the forecast. The winter here in Atlanta is much like Europe; rainy, cold and overcast. There are days with brilliant sunshine unlike Europe.

Small joys can be coming across an old photo of an old friend that passed away suddenly. She was an amazing woman and someone who saved my life when I needed a friend the most. After my divorce I badly needed respite of some kind and Susan offered it to me and my two children. She was a generous individual and off we went to Spain for a month, to get away and think and try to make a plan to rebuild my life as a single parent of two adopted kids. Savor each moment. She will be missed.

Dogs provide endless hours of enjoyment. After working on my writing I came in to get a much deserved bit of lunch only to find that Liam must have had a rough day on the job. I did not pose this picture, it is a sign of the times that a dog is resting beside a mask. Maybe this is the next step in Covid 19 protection. It made me chuckle and he was no worse for the wear.
