Isn't he gorgeous? The mercury was hovering around the high 30's today and I have not seen my friend the Heron. Then as the sun came out and temperature warmed, there he was right on shoreline in front of the house. You can see his blue feathers and the long frayed looking ones that hang like gossamer from his wings. So exquisite. His beak strikes like lightening as it takes aim and snaps up its prey. Truly a sight to behold.
Small joys can be coming across an old photo of an old friend that passed away suddenly. She was an amazing woman and someone who saved my life when I needed a friend the most. After my divorce I badly needed respite of some kind and Susan offered it to me and my two children. She was a generous individual and off we went to Spain for a month, to get away and think and try to make a plan to rebuild my life as a single parent of two adopted kids. Savor each moment. She will be missed.
