Small Joy. January 17, 2021

It is funny this patch of grass reminds me of the time spent on the farm outside of Williamsburg, VA.  It is the particular color of the grass as the light hits the stems, reddish in hue.  A lot of fond memories of house renovation on an old farmhouse and acreage. When we would drive down to Williamsburg, in the winters to work on this house project or another it was the way the grass looked in the dead of January that always brought a smile to my face and made the long weekend journey worthwhile.

Small Joy. February 27, 2021

Small joys can be coming across an old photo of an old friend that passed away suddenly. She was an amazing woman and someone who saved my life when I needed a friend the most.  After my divorce I badly needed respite of some kind and Susan offered it to me and my two children. She was a generous individual and off we went to Spain for a month, to get away and think and try to make a plan to rebuild my life as a single parent of two adopted kids. Savor each moment.   She will be missed.

Dogs provide endless hours of enjoyment.  After working on my writing I came in to get a much deserved bit of lunch only to find that Liam must have had a rough day on the job.  I did not pose this picture, it is a sign of the times that a dog is resting beside a mask.  Maybe this is the next step in Covid 19 protection.  It made me chuckle and he was no worse for the wear.
