Small Joys. January 26, 2021

During breakfast, with the help of my niece Tessa...  I was able to take some amazing images of 3 turtles. Just as I was uploading the image to my photos a 4th turtle decided to push his way onto the log. They are almost as skittish as cardinals!  If I so much as open the porch door in an attempt to take their picture, they would have slipped into the lake faster than you could shak
e a stick.

It is harder to identify turtles than one would think.  I have now spent a few hours looking at images of lake turtles in Georgia and alas I am no further than I was at the start.  I guess for now I will just savor the fact that on this unusual 70 degree January day they came up on the log to warm themselves in the sun.  Lucky me.

And then there were 6...

Wow, As the day went on 2 more turtles tried to navigate the log.  How did the last two get the others to move up the log?  How was that negotiated?  You can see their powerful legs and sharp claws.  Hopefully I will be able to figure out what type of turtle we have in the lake using this picture.  I think there are two different types on the log... What do you think?

Small Joy. February 27, 2021

Small joys can be coming across an old photo of an old friend that passed away suddenly. She was an amazing woman and someone who saved my life when I needed a friend the most.  After my divorce I badly needed respite of some kind and Susan offered it to me and my two children. She was a generous individual and off we went to Spain for a month, to get away and think and try to make a plan to rebuild my life as a single parent of two adopted kids. Savor each moment.   She will be missed.

Dogs provide endless hours of enjoyment.  After working on my writing I came in to get a much deserved bit of lunch only to find that Liam must have had a rough day on the job.  I did not pose this picture, it is a sign of the times that a dog is resting beside a mask.  Maybe this is the next step in Covid 19 protection.  It made me chuckle and he was no worse for the wear.
